Solstice; One Man's opinion

Ketchecan, Juneau, Skagway - 8/2014

After 45+ cruises and having sailed everything from the now defunt Viking line, to Carnival, Princess and Royal Caribbean, my wife and I are in a unique postition to evaluate the Solstice. The lay out of the ship was creative and well designed, the venues furnished exquisitly! The food both in the dinning room and in the Oceanview (buffet) Cafe are far and away the best we've ever eaten. It's not even close. Dinning room menu choices, though leaning far too heavily towards fish for our taste, were many and varied. And every item we sampled was literally to die for! It was that good! We found all of the ships officers to be extremely approachable and friendly. The same cannot be said of the bar and wait staff. We found them aloof and distant, often barking at guests who were not familiar with either choices on a menu, be it food or drink, or simply not familiar with the "Celebrity" way of doing things. It is my opinion and that of my wife, that the customer service on Celebrity needs some re evaluation and tightening up. It is, in my opinion, near the bottom in rating the customer service on all of the lines we've traveled. In fact, to be absolutely frank, the only worse customer service we've seen has been on Carnival; a line we will never, ever cruise again, even if we were given one for free. But make no mistake; this one SINGLE aspect of the cruise was the only place in which we could find fault, and we would most certainly travel with Celebrity again!

Pros: Decor, Venues, ship design, food

Cons: Bar staff, and wait staff leave a LOT to be desired.

British Isles cruise

British Isles - 8/2014

Had a wonderful time, shore excursions went smoothly, food was very good, only disappointment was that there was no chiropractor on board while it was advertised that there would be. Spa was very nice and personnel was great.

Pros: Entertainment, customer service, room accommodations, dining service

Cons: there was advertised a chiropractor and an acupuncturist and they were not on board.

Excellent ship experience

Alaska - 8/2014

There was no celebrity staff in the bus terminal after disembarkment to direct us to the correct bus taking us to the airport. This created some confusion for us.

Pros: The ship was kept very clean.

Cons: The disembarkment process from ship to transportation to airport home.

Summit August 2014

Port Canaveral, Bahamas - 8/2014

Port was changed due to weather, as experienced cruisers we were disappointed, but understood safety is the primary issue.

Pros: Captains club Rep. Ashley and staff (Lilianna) were very attentive. Cabins very clean thank you Thelma and her assistant

Cons: Guest relations desk could not get us any satisfaction without consulting

Cruisetour 6B

Alaska - 8/2014

To my travel agent, thanks for all of your help. I suspect if we had booked this with you originally, you would have steered us to a land tour with a better schedule. Overall we enjoyed the trip and are glad we got to see the vastness of Alaska. The ship is in great shape and staffed with excellent people. Stateroom 9161 is a very good one.

Pros: Well organized land tour and the cruise ship experience was very good

Cons: Even with a well organized land tour, Celebrity crammed too much into Day 3: four hour train ride from Fairbanks to Denali and eight hour bus ride through the Denali Tundra. It should never be an offering.

Betty and Jim Rubenstein

Italy and Greece - 7/2014

Overall, we had a lovely time on this cruise. The pre cruise hotel, the Monaco Grand Canal, was very convenient in terms of location and the staff were lovely. It was off the Grand Canal and close to St. Marks Square. The rooms were very small, though. Breakfast was fine. On the ship, Aqua Class is definitely worth the upgrade. You get to eat dinner each night at the time you want in the specialty restaurant, BLU for not extra charge. BLU can only seat around 130 people. The feel is more like a fine restaurant in Miami or NY. Aqua class also gives you bottled water in the room and flavored tea each day. The onboard drink package is definitely worth it even for the lighter drinkers. It includes gratuity so no thinking is required! On the first night, there is usually a special (2 for 1) for the specialty restaurants. No need to book that night in advance. Had dinner one night in the Tuscan Grill specialty restaurant for $45pp, but, did not have to. The food in BLU is special enough. The shows overall were good; the Broadway song show was the best. The comedy show very good. The final show disappointed us. It was very slow and did not feature the dancers. Celegbrity is a more elegant ship than RCCL in terms of the look, the staff and the passengers. We enjoyed our vacation very much!

Pros: Loved Aqua Class, enjoyed the drink package, a more elegant staff than RCCL

Cons: The final show was a let down; very ordinary.

Ship review-Celebrity Silhouette

Venice, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Malta, Ravenna Italy, Bari Italy, Sicily, Naples - 7/2014

This was our first Celebrity cruise, and we were very pleased. The ship was quite spacious. In general we never felt crowded. The entertainment, for the most part, was quite good, and a nice variety. Our two favorite shows were a Broadway review and an aerielist show. This second one was something we had never seen in all of our years of cruising.

Pros: Beautiful ship, friendly staff, good food, lots of unique eating venues.

Cons: storage in our balcony cabin was a bit tight. There were only three drawers for clothes and no shelving.

Great Cruise

Istanbul - 7/2014

Just finished a wonderful cruise from Rome to Greece and Turkey for 11 days. The Celebrity Reflection was great - staff, food and ship. If I had to find some negatives: Drinks were too expensive and evening shows could have been better.

Pros: Great staff

Cons: Drink prices

Alaska Inland Passage Seattle to Seattle

Alaska - 7/2014

A very pleasant 7 day cruise. Lots to do at every port, dog sledding, whale watching, sea kayaking and the list goes on. as with all celebrity ships and especially the Solstice Class ships the food and service are wonderful. We were three generations including 7 grandchildren and everyone had a great time.

Pros:

Cons: Seattle is a longshoreman controlled port and so the decide how quickly you get your lugggage

Iceland and Norweigan Fjords

Iceland and Fjords in Norway - 7/2014

Many of the problems would have been avoided if the ship was not full. Most things were handled well with so many people but the weather caused the flaws to show with indoor public areas too small for a small ship.

Pros: Great ports, good tours, helpful staff, and great lectures.

Cons: The weather was cold and wet and because the ship was full, there were not enough comfortable places in public areas for sitting without having to buy a drink. Even buying a drink spaces were very limited. If you did not get to the theater 15 minutes early, the popular shows filled completely up as there were not enough seats for a full ship.

Summer Alaska cruise

Seward Alaska - 6/2014

It was a fun experience, the ship was very clean, well organized, communication was great (they delivered a daily list of activities, restaurants and shore excursions). The ship personnel were smiling, helpful and friendly 24 hours a day. The food was elegant and plentiful, our evening dinner waiter, Mr. Wiarta was the very best! He remembered our drink preferences from the very first night and automatically delivered iced tea to the 6 of us when we were seated for dinner. There were classes on iPhones and iPads, that was a nice touch. We toured the galley and attended a cooking demonstration. This was our first cruise, so we have nothing to compare it to. I can't think of anything that would have improved the experience.

Pros: Breathtaking scenery everywhere, we saw whales, bears, otters and seals

Cons: Every port is highly commercialized and their main business is selling jewelry to tourists.

Medditeranean Cruise, June 23 2014

Italy, Greece, Turkey - 6/2014

Beautiful ship - a great crew, very clean and very well maintained. Just a few minor complaints- nothing open for a bite past 1am, room service however was fast and efficient.. the dining room(s) and buffet in my opinion were not appealing, aesthetically speaking ...somewhat cold.. lacking colors or using colors that remind me of a hospital cafeteria. The dining room food and overall specialty restaurants were very good though. Also, were Concierge class and they were not able to meet some minor cabin wants and needs that were told to us. All and all however, it was a great ship and a great staff. Very memorable cruise :)

What has happened to Celebrity?

Alaska - 6/2014

I just returned from a 7 night northbound Alaska sailing. I have sailed with Celebrity several times and they have always been one of my preferred lines. That opinion has changed based on this cruise. One of the things that has always attracted me to Celebrity was the clientele. A little for sophisticated, intellectual, professional crowd with a median age in their 50s. What I experienced on this cruise was more reminiscent of a cruise somewhere between NCL and Princess. There is nothing wrong with either of those lines but their clientele has always been different from the Celebrity client. In addition, I think it is time for the Millennium to go into dry dock. The public areas are not too bad but our stateroom was in desperate need of some TLC. I found the same to be true of the indoor pool and the Persian Gardens. I also don't feel they did a good job of adding BLU. Instead of it being the nice restaurant it is on the Solstice class ships, they have simply converted one side of the upper level of the main dining room. We has a bad experience with our room steward but I think he was the exception and not the norm. We had some very average service in some of the lounges as well as in the Celebrity Theatre. All in all, the service was above average but certainly not what it used to be. We also found the food in the main dining room not to be up to par. Food in Qsine and the Olympic was exceptional as was the service. Food at the buffet was "food at the buffet". We traveled with our children and their significant others. This was their first time on Celebrity and they loved it. As for us, we will think twice before booking and Celebrity cruise.

Cons: See review

Once in a lifetime vacation

Italy (Rome & Naples), Turkey (Istanbul & Ephesus), Greece (Santorini & Athens) - 6/2014

We decided to take a cruise because we were traveling with two children (ages 9 and 11 yrs old) and wanted to see several countries at a leisurely pace. Every other morning, we woke up a new scenic location. We opted to go with the ship's guided tours because it was our first time in Europe. Shore excursions were well organized and gave us a taste of the different cities. All of the staff - cruise director, entertainment, room attendants, dining room staff and those working behind the scenes - did a great job in ensuring we were comfortable and well taken care on and off the ship. Wow, our Celebrity Reflection cruise experience was luxurious and well worth the price!

Pros: Ability to see several countries without packing & unpacking, trip inclusive of food and room accommodations, different activities to choose from for different age groups

Cons: "Extras" such as bottled water & fancy coffee (latte & cappucino) can add up

Mediterranean Escape

Istanbul, Mykonos, Athens, Malta, Sicily, and Sorrento, Italy, - 6/2014

We, wife, myself, and two grandsons, took the Greek and Italy cruise on the Celebrity Equinox in June, 2014. Our trip began with a 3 day pre-cruise stay in Istanbul, our embarkation port. The pre-cruise included three nights at the Senatus Hotel plus a one-day tour of the city. There was plenty of extra time to learn about and enjoy the mystique of Istanbul. The Senatus was located within walking distance of many attractons including the Grand Bazaar and the Blue Mosque. We recommend looking no further than the restaurant at the Senatus as it was the best we found. The cruise stops included Mykonos, Athens, Malta, Sicily, and Sorrento each of which had its own individual highlights. The excursions we took gave us a good taste of each of the stops on the cruise. Celebrity offers great service, wonderful dining, terrific entertainment, and the cabin accommodations were superb as well as more spcacious than we experienced on previous cruises. This was a special trip for us and Celebrity certainly enhanced our travel experience.

Pros: The whole Celebrity experience. They do everything the right way.

Cons: The ten days went too fast.

Excellent crew, beautiful trip - thoroughly enjoyed!

Alaska - 6/2014

Thoroughly enjoyed this cruise. Crew was polite, welcoming, helpful and attentive. Special thanks to Dominik of Future Cruises. He handled all my changes efficiently and quickly - also very polite and professional. All Future Cruise staff was very polite and courteous. Guest Relations staff - excellent. Stateroom attendants - attentive to all my needs and quickly complied with any request. LOVED the blanket animals! Each night was a different animal. Dining room wait staff and hostess were wonderful - very pleasant and accommodated all my requests! Concierge (Cindy) was super - she must be psychic! Any questions we had concerning ports and transportation were anticipated and all information provided in a very understandable manner. Loved the mass information and Vancouver sky train flyers! Hopefully all Celebrity concierges will follow and provide mass information! Activity Director (Rachel) and Activity Host (Taylor) very enjoyable - made trivia and other games fun. Loved DJ Zen's movie music trivia!! Did not attend production shows; however Beyond the Podium was very interesting. Captain's Club (Lionel) was also excellent. Enjoyed Captain's Club activities. Crew was always very approachable and answered questions. Did not use Shore Excursions. Very heavy on jewelry port shopping (like Caribbean). Port shopping guide and his wife were helpful and available. Most shore excursions were rather expensive. Public buses and shuttles were available and inexpensive.

Pros: Crew was very courteous, helpful and attentive!

Cons: Cruise Director - difficult to understand his accent. Came across as rather bossy. Did not appreciate photographers chasing us to take photos with characters in front of Oceanview restaurant.

Horrible ship and cruise line

Alaska (Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait, Ketchikan, Inside Passage) - 6/2014

This was our first and last cruise with Celebrity. The entire cruise was filled with excuses and explanations of just "human error." The cruise started with leaving my wife's luggage in the rain so that it was soaked when we got it. We were told they did not leave it in the rain, but it was dry when we put it in the container and when we got it back we were able to squeeze water from her clothes. We ordered room service numerous times and it was only on time once and it was never what we ordered. We purchased the premium beverage package, but has to repeatedly return to first services to have our bill corrected after being charged for beverages included in the package even though we never once signed for any of the drink charges (non-alcoholic). Guest services kept saying it was "human error." Staff ignored the Do Not Disturb sign on the room door. The pizza station was never properly manned and most of the time there was no pizza of it was burnt. The ship was dirty and the windows were not cleaned.

Pros: Easy Debarkation

Cons: Poor Service, Dirty ship, Lack of caring by the staff

Great Ship, Great Crew, Great Weather, Great Itinerary

Norway fjords, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Shetland Islands, Bergen - 6/2014

We sailed the Norwegian fjords and Iceland including the Faroe Islands and Shetlands Islands. The weather could not have been better (except Bergen - thunder storms!) The crew was wonderful - very welcoming. Made every effort to meet and exceed expectations. If you like big cities, this is NOT the cruise for you! The itinerary was small towns and nature - very peaceful. It was great for wandering through streets, checking out the shops and talking to the locals about their wonderful cities. Some people were bored due to the lack of big city excitement. A vacation is what YOU make it. I always spoke with the tourist office and the locals for suggestions. The Golden Circle tour was great, as was the Highlights of Geiranger (plenty of photo stops) and the Shetland ponies (loved being petted)! Went to the Stave church in Bergen on my own and enjoyed it. It is easy to access via the light rail and a short walk. Didn't go to any shows so am rating entertainment a 3. Iceland and Norway are very expensive.

Pros: The itinerary, the crew, some good tours

Cons: The port information provided by Guest Relations needs to be updated. Notified Guest Relations. OceanView normally too crowded to enjoy. Go off hours. Ports are very expensive.

Pacific Coast in Spring

The most amazing weather, and a wonderful cruise. Our first time on Celebrity and we loved the soon to be sold Century. What a beautiful ship. The room steward was friendly and attentive; how do they learn names so fast? We liked the shows and the other activities. We appreciated that there wasn't a lot of pressure to buy things. We did enjoy the casino, but we are not big spenders. It's just nice that there was no smoking in the casino so we could spend a bit of time there. Overall, a wonderful vacation with ports we love. We are B.C. residents so have been to many of them before but that means we had a plan and knew the places we wanted to see. Love San Francisco, so much to do there. Very happy that the ship did an overnight there. Worst part is that we will not be able to take this cruise on this ship ever again. Thanks for this one wonderful trip, Celebrity.

Best Ever! Great Trip!!

Mediterranean - 5/2014

Our Celebrity Cruise of the Mediterranean aboard the Equinox was first class, from start to finish! It was a clean, luxurious ship with plenty of friendly crew members whose only wish was to grant yours. There were always things to do aboard, a variety of music from classical, big band, acoustic guitar, light jazz, to oldies and top hits. The theater presentations were first rate, often with a Cirque de Soleil flavor. We did excursions every day, with the exception of the Gk. isle of Mykonos, where we enjoyed the shops and ambiance of the town. We always were able to find a place to sit on deck, and there was even an indoor pool for adults only which played spa music and was most restful. The spa was a Canyon Ranch one, but I never had time to indulge! I spend several hours watching the glassblowing group from Corning Glass Works. It was utterly fascinating, esp. the night presentation, done without explanation to the sound of New Age music. (I have a love for Murano glass.) The food was very good, our waiters superlative, and our four other dinner companions very enjoyable. The stateroom was good sized, well appointed with a king size bed, and I esp. liked the veranda. It was amazing how efficiently the crew coordinated the embarkation and debarkation at the various ports. The entire ship was appointed throughout, even in the hallways, by wonderful works of modern art.

Pros: Announcements were kept to a minimum. Quite simply, you get what you pay for. It's been 16 years since we have been on a cruise, and much has been done to improve.

Cons: Can't really think of any!

Small but important issues

Pacific Coastal Cruise - 4/2014

We were in Concierge Class 1. We didn't receive any of these Concierge Services nor Amenity: * Express luggage delivery-took at least 4+ hours * Personalized Concierge service-never saw one. Final day we got a card inviting us to the Concierge pre-departure lounge. * Personalized stationery. On Wednesday afternoon we noticed there was no air circulating in the main cabin. A/C tech came and supposedly fixed it. He changed the thermostat W became C. C became W. He said it was blowing in reverse???? Thursday am. Same issue contacted the room steward again and he called from our room. In the afternoon, noticed there were footprints on the bed so we presumed the blower was working. It was not and never worked again. Fortunately we could open the veranda door at night.

2014 Trans-Pacific Celebrity Solstice experience

New Zealand, French Polynesia, Honolulu - 4/2014

I will give a score of 2 and one half for my experience in this last cruise being that it did not fully meet our expectation of the cruise. The entertainment is mediocre at best and repetitious. Custom/immigration is a horror story beyond imagination. The staff were not prepared to handle 2,800 people. There was shouting, screaming, yelling and cursing in the lines because people didn't know where the lines go. I have been on Celebrity cruises before but I'd like to forget this one.

On the good side, the service at the night time dining is excellent. Cabin service is excellent and the front desk is very adequate.

Pros: 1. Signature restaurants are okay. Food is okay. Cabin service is okay. Dining service is okay.

Cons: 2. Custom/immigration line is a nightmare. Entertainment is mediocre at best. Oceanview Cafe table service in the morning and lunch are way below par. Excursion description did not live up to its expectation.

Rock-n-Rolling across the Atlantic - understaffed and STRESSED!!!

NYC, Halifax, NS COBH, Ireland Harwich, UK - 4/2014

In the way of weather, we had almost EVERYTHING - 30 mph winds, thunder, lightning, pouring rain and beautiful sun. The North Atlantic was not kind to us. There was a great deal of rocking, creaking and wind to make for some interesting (and sleepless) nights! However, when the sea was fairly calm, I slept very well.

The Activities Staff (ALL 2 OF THEM!!) were definitely overworked!! They made a heroic effort to keep us all engaged and happy during a rough 5 days at sea. The Cruise Director, Rick, did help out and I really enjoyed his 20 questions contests. I had a great time with the X-treme Race going from the 3rd floor to the 11th and back down on the stairs!!! Win a Million was also great fun.

As for the room staff, they were DEFINITELY overworked and must have had at least 20 - 30 rooms to clean to our satisfaction - they did a great job but I know they were stressed. I was uncomfortable asking for anything out of the ordinary since I knew they were extremely busy.

My wait staff in the dining room were also getting very weary by the end of the voyage. They also were EXCELLENT at remembering my requests, serving me quickly and with a smile and clearing my dishes the moment I finished.

I will not mention the Concierge or Captain's Club staff - I have discussed them with hotel management. I also found a number of the Shore Excursion staff either inexperienced or treating me as though I was bothering them.

All in all, as others have said, this voyage did not live up to Celebrity's normally high standards. It appeared most of the staff were exhausted and overworked. Some were surly; however the majority were very pleasant, kind, and professional!! Hopefully Celebrity is not going to continue understaffing their ships and sacrificing the quality they are known for in the premium cruise line industry.

Pros: Activity staff, wait staff, room service staff, stateroom staff, Guest Relations, good food

Cons: Concierge staff, Captains Club staff, Shore Excursion staff - surly. Everyone was tired!!

From the very first encounter (welcome glass of champagne) Celebrity's attention to detail did not disappoint. Our stateroom attendant was most attentive. Celebrity Constellation

Amsterdam. Back to back trip. Florida-Amsterdam and the Baltic - 4/2014

In general we were satisfied with Celebrity Constellation, clean, workers very friendly, with some exceptions: Front desk one rude person. We have to dine in ONE ONLY restaurant, most others lines offer more than one, except the buffet. I'm not talking about the restaurants you pay extra. Our worst experience was the room change. We had an excellent room on the first leg of trip (We did back to back) and then our nightmare began. The new room was cold, noisy and it is an odor in deck 2 where the room is very strong and very unpleasant. The noise goes on all night and wake up us every single night. Why did Celebrity change our room, I don't have a clue. We asked for a reason and never got a clear answer.

Pros: Clean, friendly workers (Francisco, Sebastian, Carina, Marijean). Indoor pool, sauna.

Cons: Deck #2, bad odor, noisy room #2080, one rude person at front desk.

The Good The Bad and the Ugly!!

San Juan. St. Kitts, St. Martin - 4/2014

Overall, the ship was GOOD, clean and well taken care of. The cuts that have been made are UGLY.

Customer Service Lacking

Caribbean. Barbados, Antiqua, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, St. Maarten - 4/2014

Overall we thought the cruise was a fair value. However, the level of customer service on Celebrity overall, and this ship in particular has continually eroded the past few years. The employees (except for our cabin attendant Jorge...who was excellent) just seemed to have an overall blasé attitude and most seemed like they were just going through the motions of satisfying their job requirements. Too bad, as Celebrity used to be our favorite. Not that we would not use Celebrity again, but only if another company did not have a comparable cruise. The two outside entertainers were the best we have experienced on any cruise. Also, the lounge's singer, Wil Foraker, was excellent. The food was average in the Cosmopolitan. In the buffet dining area upstairs the quality was often somewhat below average and service there was especially lacking.

Pros: Guest Entertainers.

Cons: Customer Service, quality of food.

April 20014 Cruise to Canary Islands, Spain, France and Italy

Canary Islands, Spain, France, Italy - 4/2014

My husband I loved the Reflection of the Seas. It is a beautiful ship and the weather was warm in the low 70s which was ideal and the seas were calm throughout the voyage. The captain's navigational skills were fantastic as were all the crew members and our room attendant and meal severs. The ports we visited were all beautiful and clean and the people were very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and we would book a cruise on the Reflection again without hesitation.

Pros: Fantastic ship

Cons: Better explanation of what to expect when we came into ports that were not close to the cities promised.

Easter Cruise

San Juan, St Thomas, St Marteen. - 4/2014

We took a 7 day cruise from Miami to the Eastern Caribbean. The weather could not have been better and the three stops we made were fantastic. The sea was smooth and the three days at sea were a great relaxer when the ship and its crew were thoroughly enjoyed. This ship is the flagship of the Celebrity Line and is painstakingly maintained to the highest standards. The shows and entertainment were top notch, and not at all like a wild party boat but more subdued. The Reflection show towards the end is not to be missed. This show had everything in it, as if it was in Las Vegas, yes it was that good. The acrobatics and the flexibility and strength of the cast was simply AMAZING! I would do it again tomorrow.

Pros: Crew was happy and bent over backwards to make you feel SPECIAL!

Cons: Celebrity falls short of letting you know what's going on before or after cruise.

Pros: wonderful staff pretty much everywhere.

Cons: would have liked more cragt projects...

Fabulous Cruise

San Juan, St Kitts, St. Martin - 3/2014

Our 7 day cruise was perfect.  The ship was magnificent.  The entire crew could not have done a better job.  No corners were cut. Service was great, the food was great and we would most definitely cruise with Celebrity again.  Recommend Bernard's Tour.  Ask for guide, Sugar, in St. Martin. Do not recommend the ship's rail/bus excursions. Train ride too long and boring.

Pros: See review

Cons: Really none worth mentioning

Cruise Review 3-29-14 thru 4-5-14

San Juan - St. Thomas - St. Martin - 3/2014

All staff excellent. Very small details that could use improvement. IE: on deck 14 waiters should arrive at tables with coffee cups and coffee in hand and offer tea and coffee. Present systems not working. Waiters standing around to REFILL YOUR coffee cup and clean up tables. If asked they would go for coffee and then have to get in the SAME line as passengers to get coffee! Also cream, sugar, etc. should be somewhere else AWAY from folks in line trying to get coffee. Cabin closets quite small and over bed units not usable for shorter people. Entertainment - Elton John Tribute guy and Big Mike's group excellent. Other shows, while performers were impressive, music was LOUD and the "high energy thing" was over bearing!! These kinds of things are VERY small objections but would add to the experience if "fixed". Overall though a very good value and enjoyable.

Pros: Nice Ship - lots of variety in outdoor seating, etc.

Cons: Small amenities lacking

Read the fine print

several - 3/2014

Nice ship. Little tall so on the 7 deck you roll a lot. Photos are subcontracted to a vendor and are over priced. Photo staff would not take a group picture of 42 people on the grand stair unless every one bought a picture or we paid a $150 set up fee plus photos. We did ourselves with the help of some of the guests. Food ok. Up scale restaurants were very good. Wine prices fair.

Pros: nice ship and good staff

Cons: real rocky in 8 foot sea

Overall was an excellent cruise - lovely ship, good excursions, and good food. Very pleased with our Concierge Deck cabin mid-ship. Entertainment overall was great. Seemed a little short-staffed in the lounges and dining room but not a big problem. I certainly would sail with Celebrity again.

Reflection review

Caribbean - 3/2014

We were disappointed in the Reflection ship. This was our 8th cruise with Celebrity. This ship had smaller cabins and they did not have a lot of the amenties of the older ships. The food was just ok. It was often over-cooked and bland. This is the first time we have been disappointed in the quality of Celebrity. The entertainers were very good, but also very loud. My husband had to leave one performance because it hurt his ears. He is an entertainer so for him to walk out was major.

Pros: It is a beautiful ship. It is very clean and the staff is very friendly. The bathrooms were a nice size.

Cons: The rooms were small and not a lot of storage. The closets were small and hard to get into. The food was very bland and often over-cooked. The shows were very loud, however they were very good.

South America

Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile - 3/2014

Very nice vacation with a combination of ports and sea days.

The ship was easy to get around with a lounge at the top providing outstanding views (especially at Cape Horn and fjords); plenty of gym equipment; wonderful Activity Staff; the funniest Cruise Director; and a Captain you could understand. Bundle up, however, because "summer" down in So. America is not like a Las Vegas summer!

Pros: Nice ship with great staff.

Cons: Poor countries and some rough seas.

Everything was great!!!!!!!

All those with great beaches, Antigua and Barbados were the best beaches we went enjoyed. - 3/2014

Everything was wonderful, and met or exceeded our expectations.

As I already said everything was great, I can't believe Celebrity is associated with Royal Caribbean.

Pros: Everything was done right, I was as impressed as I was in 1968 when I first experienced cruising.

Cons: Everyone loved the entertainment giving standing ovations after every show, I would have liked more than one comedy show.

8 night Eastern Caribbean Cruise

8 night Eastern Caribbean Cruise - 2/2014

Smaller older ship but very well designed.

Inside cabin very comfortable. More storage space than we needed. Bathroom very adequate with large shower space. Didn't care for buffet. Dining was excellent. Theater shows were excellent. Photo shop - purchased a new camera after ours broke. Selling feature, we were told battery when charged would last 2 days but it didn't last 6 hours. We tested their new battery and it only lasted 6 hours only. Photo shop manager said no refunds and just wanted to change camera's. I told him to hold the offer and I wanted to talk to officials on the cruise. Long story short - we got our refund.

Pros: Good cruise value

Cons: Photo shop Manager

Wonderful Get-away

Western Caribbean - 2/2014

We really enjoyed the Celebrity Constellation 5-day cruise.  The ship was beautiful, had nice amenities, the staff were all friendly and helpful, and the entertainment was really good.  We were on the open dining plan which was really fun and flexible.  We showed up for dinner whenever we wanted and we were either seated alone, or with new people each night.  We also had different waiters each night.  The service was horrible the first night and we quickly learned that it's difficult to get drinks in the dining room (unless you are a wine drinker which we are not). The waiters do not take drink orders- a separate person manages the drinks in the dining room. You need to request them right away; otherwise you could wait all through dinner to get your drink. Most nights the service and food were both excellent; however, I had two dinners that were not of acceptable quality.

We enjoyed the poolside activities during the day and the martini bar in the evenings. The bartenders in the martini bar are INCREDIBLE! They are very talented jugglers/ entertainers as well as bartenders! We also enjoyed Captain Tasos as he was highly visible throughout the cruise and he had a funny personality!

We would recommend this cruise to others, but would make sure that they know the clientele is a much older population. I'm guessing most of the guests were above 70 years old. We knew it was an older crowd ahead of time but I figured there would be a lot of people in their 50's. We weren't going there to meet people so it really wasn't a problem for us.

Pros: Activities;Clean;Entertain;Food;Staff;
